The Bohemians provides an eclectic backdrop to the idea of encouraging and supporting the concepts Kim loves ... unique, quality, handmade, artisanal, women-owned or produced where possible ... an assortment of affordable items that bring beauty into your environment and add value to your life and space.

Proprietaire Kim Mancha's dreams of life in France began in Mr. Cavanaugh's 10th grade french class, where he breathed life into the idea of a different culture ... elegant, rich in history and beauty.  As a young single mom, she found a way to send her kids to the French American school in Berkeley, California and was able to rub elbows with french expats and francophiles, all the while expanding her affinity to all things french.  The deal was sealed when, in 1996, she first set foot on french soil ... visiting Paris and Avignon. love at first sight... Thereafter, she visited yearly ... always finding time to visit a new region and collect real estate magazines.

After years of looking and dreaming, dreaming and looking, in 2007 Kim found the village she would soon call home, located in her favorite departement ... the Dordogne.  Kim bought an old stone house in the village and its adjoining atelier? which had housed an old forge (blacksmith).

She quickly shifted focus from house renovation to atelier renovation, wanting to have a space for a summer business in Brantôme.  Inspired by Mignonne Décor, the boutique opened with her daughter Johnelle in 2006 ... Kim created a space that reflects her spirit and philosophy ... The Bohemians, opened in 2009.

The Bohemians is a seasonal shop and has evolved every year ... some items return and new ones are discovered ... Kim scours the french countryside for old furniture with good bones that she can breathe new life into ... she supports local artisans as well as guest artists from abroad.  You'll find an ever changing variety of treasures at The Bohemians ... art, jewelry, décor items, vintage jeans, new women's clothes and accessories, body products ... you name it, if it looks or smells lovely, it just might be here!  Our name reflects our spirit ... eclectic, adventurous, curious and interesting ... bohemian vagabonds at heart!
